I have wanted to pick some ripe, juicy strawberries for some time now. It was a beautiful day for being outdoors, so I headed to Sweet Berry Farm. Sweet Berry Farm is a ‘pick your own’ farm which grows not only strawberries, but blackberries in season and pumpkins later in the year.
Sweet Berry Farm is one of my favorite places this time of year. The fields are green and the bright red berries are extra sweet! After picking (and eating) your fill of berries, head on over to the picnic area.
Picnic tables shaded by huge pecan trees line the edge of the creek so don’t forget to pack a lunch! After your picnic, roam on over to the ice cream counter, where they scoop up some of the best homemade strawberry ice cream I have ever tasted! The ice cream is made the old fashioned way, with fruit picked straight from the fields.
There are several activities for small children, from the petting zoo to the small train pulled by a tractor. I recommend bringing a Frisbee or soccer ball, as well as a blanket to sit on while watching the children play. Kites would be fun too!
Sweet Berry Farm is the perfect place to spend a day outdoors. There is not an entrance or parking fee. Check their website for directions and look over their Tips/FAQ page before heading out. The picking season for strawberries ends soon, around the end of May, so plan a trip soon!
